Early Cut Flower Types

If you're eager to enjoy sweet peas earlier in the season, our Early Flowering varieties are the perfect choice. Bred specifically for autumn sowing, these varieties produce flowers considerably earlier than traditional summer flowering sweet peas, rewarding you with fragrant blooms from late spring and extending your cutting season. They are also an excellent choice to combat hot summers, with peak flowering time before the hot weather begins.

For the best results, sow seeds from End of August through to November in an unheated greenhouse, cold frame or cool conservatory. Young plants will establish strong root systems over winter before putting on vigorous growth as temperatures rise in spring. In milder areas they can also be successfully overwintered outdoors with suitable protection.

The Oyama, Winter Sunshine, Spring Sunshine and Solstice series have all been selected for their outstanding cut flower quality. They produce long, strong stems with a multiflora habit, carrying multiple blooms on each stem. This not only creates a spectacular display in the garden but also provides exceptional vase life, as the flowers continue to open one after another after cutting.

The Riviera Series, created by Roger Parsons contains early flowering grandiflora types, with high scent and bold colours, ideal for cut flowers for the house.

Whether you're growing for the garden, the vase or for exhibition, these early flowering varieties will give you a valuable head start on the sweet pea season, filling your home with beautiful, fragrant blooms weeks.
